Happy, happy dance! Ooh, look what the postie brought today from Dani my Fair & Square Round 3 exchange partner. The neatest gifts! I am so very lucky! Thank you so much Dani. The pattern, the stitching, the choice of colours have just been so elegantly put together. The addition of the extra DMC threads are so thoughtful of you… Thank you, Dani I love them :D

Two Weddings and…. an Outfit!

No sign of anything at all for many a year, then suddenly, bang! Two weddings in two months! You may recall I told you about attending my nephew’s wedding in Adelaide, South Australia last month. Well, another nephew is getting married in Sydney, New South Wales next Saturday 20 October. It’s also my 23rd wedding anniversary tomorrow 14 october. The pixies must have sprinkled wedding dust around here!

I’ve been feverishly getting my outfit together for the wedding so haven’t had much spare time for stitching. This is what I’ve managed to whip up… a simple outfit which I’m hoping will rise to the occassion when it all comes together with the help of a few (red?) accessories 0 haven’t decided on those yet!) The top is made from a gold embroidered silk fabric with lovely florals with tinges of red in the embriodered petals (see close up of fabric). The long skirt is made froma plain gold dupioni sik fabric. Well, this is what the outfit looks like…. Please excuse the poor photography – still on my ‘L’ plates for this type of photo shoot.

I’m just about to get started on my DD’s outfit. Yikes! time’s getting very tight.  She coudn’t find anything she liked in the shops, so decided at the last minute that she wanted me to make her something. We rushed out and did a quick trip to Spotlight, our local fabric/craft superstore yesterday. I’ll show you what she’s designed in a couple of days when I have something that resembles an outfit.

Even though I enjoy sewing, my real love is cross stitch. Can’t wait to get back to it …. can’t remember what I was last stitching :? Been too long already! Hope you all have the time to slip in a few stitches on your current projects!

Another Finish(or Two)!

Finish No. 1: Fair & Square Exchange piece for Dani. A small packet coming your way soon, Dani. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed stitching it!

Finish No. 2: In keeping with my 2007 focus on finishing my stitched pieces, I decided to fish out and finish a piece I stitched 2 years or so ago.  It’s Sweet Valentines by The Sweetheart Tree – an easy to stitch but charming pattern. The chart came with the most beautiful heart shaped ’I love you’ charm. In keeping with the theme, I embellished the tassel with a white shell heart-shaped bead and some clear beads. I think I’m starting to get the hang of curved needles, lacing and cording… took me much less time with this one.

Happy stitching to all my fellow stitcher/bloggers! ;)

I showed you previously the exchange piece I received from Vicki in Round 2 of the Fair & Square Exchange. Vicki has broken her left wrist -not good for stitching. Hope you get all fixed up real soon, Vicki.

I did forget to take a photo of the piece I made for her  but you can see it posted here on the F&S Exchange Blog. Needless to say, the exchange was soo… much fun, I’m hooked!

My Fair & Square Round 3 partner is Dani. Can’t show you what I’m stitching for her, ’cause we need to keep her in suspense for a wee while yet :-D

This weekend I finished Vicki’s piece into a pinkeep. Take a look! So Delicious…… Full Frontal, Back view and Side view. Absolutely love it 8-)  Thanks a million, Vicki.
